Privacy policy update, July 2018

While creating Your Circle, I have understood that families going through tough times can have financial difficulties to overcome.

To help these families and to make Your Circle the most welcoming app in the world, non-profit organizations have the ability to pay Your Circle an annual fee in order to gift free memberships to individuals and families they feel would benefit from using the Your Circle app.

As an added benefit, non-profit organizations that pay the annual fee to Your Circle also have the ability to display information about their organization, resources, and services they offer in the app. When you need more help then your support group can offer, this information may become helpful to you.

In order for the nonprofit organizations to see the number of people they are supporting inside of Your Circle, they request generic non-personally identifiable statistics from Your Circle to view.

Here is a sample report that a non-profit organization would receive from Your Circle:

Image of sample report given to non-profit organizations. Items would include: Running total of app users you have served to date, Number of new users each month, and Number of monthly active users per month.

This information keeps the strict privacy of our users while providing enough information to the non-profit organizations to determine the usefulness of the Your Circle app.

The change to the privacy policy today.

To date, Your Circle has never shared a statistic report with any non-profit organization. Being a young business we have not needed to yet. The time has come to send these reports to non-profits. Therefore, the privacy policy is being updated to reflect this change.

Where is this change happening in the document?

Screenshot of the privacy policy with the section this privacy policy update is effecting highlighted

The change is happening in the section of the privacy policy titled "Sharing information". The last bullet point of this section is being updated.

Here is the old contents of the bullet point. The parts that are being removed are in bold:

"
Aggregated or De-Identified Information: We may share information that has been aggregated or reasonably de-identified, so that the information could not reasonably be used to identify you. For instance, we may publish aggregate statistics about the use of our Services. None of this information is sold, ever. It would only be used by Your Circle to the public on a homepage or other marketing material.
"

...and the new contents. The changes are in bold:

"
Aggregated or De-Identified Information: We may share information that has been aggregated or reasonably de-identified, so that the information could not reasonably be used to identify you. For instance, we may publish aggregate statistics about the use of our Services. We may also share aggregate statistics with a non-profit organization customer of our Services as part of their License agreement to determine the impact of using our Services. This information may also be used by the Your Circle team to make public on a homepage or in other marketing material.
"

You may notice the text "None of this information is sold, ever." has been removed. This has been merged into the sentence replacing it: "We may also share aggregate statistics with a non-profit organization customer of our Services as part of their License agreement to determine the impact of using our Services". I understand this may cause some confusion.

No one directly pays to receive these reports. However, because non-profit organizations receive these reports as an added feature of their annual fee one could argue that these reports are sold in a way.

The personal information collected about our users is still completely private and will never be shared or sold, ever.

When does this policy change go into effect?

Today. This policy update does not effect the personal privacy of our users so therefore, I made the decision to make this policy change immediate.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Your Circle. I hope that it makes a positive impact on your life each day you interact with it. I want to thank you for your trust in Your Circle collecting and storing your data for you to finding emotional support. We will always be fully open and transparent about changes to your data including but not limited to changes in the privacy policy.

Peace and love,
Levi
